the EL Ghia chrome around the outside is a proper coating, its quite thick and generally won't chip, if the grills damaged then it might flake off but its pretty strong.

the *insert* in an EF Fairmont Ghia grill is chrome, with black paint over the top of it.
when they cop a few stone chips the chrome starts to show through the black.
I don't know if the standard fairmont ones have this as they seem to be bare plastic.

Really? I'm quite sure that both are one in the same. Because at the wreckers they also had a maroon Fairmont grill and insert and the insert was grey on front, and Ghia black on the back. So I think they are the same (chrome underneath if what you say is correcto), just sprayed different.

Always thought they were plastic eh, guess you wouldn't know unless you could actually hold the insert along or whack it with a shovel.

hmmm, so ur saying the black insert i took out of my ef ghia is chrome underneath? hmm. i might rub it back and see if i can get all the chrome exposed

rear the initial post again, he's asking if the standard EF Fairmont grill *INSERT* has chrome underneath they grey like the Ghia ones have chrome under the black.
i Don't know if they do as the chrome on the ghia ones is there because of the outer rim on the insert that is chrome.

Hey low, how did you end up cutting your grill and what technique did you use to attach it?

Personally I like the 1st one because it is larger, but I'm guessing it was hard to get it sit right.
