On my coloured car (champagne), The clear lights look too plain so I painted the reflectors red. It doesnt look too bad in the flesh. On the weekend, I'll take better pics, using a proper camera (not my phone )

yeah, thats what i was going to say, go VX style and put some red reflectors on the back. Maybe mount them "in" the strip.

Personally though, i dont like them, ill definately be sticking to my normal lights.

I don't think it's the actual Jap cars people have a problem with, it's the type of people who buy them, the way they drive them, and the s**t and glitter they attatch to these cars...

Not grilling people with tinted tail-lights or anything. I think their tops..
But i find it weird how the police will come down on you with these clear lights when their the brightest possible lights. Then they'll let a person with tinted dark ones drive right by :S
Once again, not dissing the tinted tail lights :)

I was in A Parts the other day and saw them.
Asked the question and yes they are meant to have a red reflector to be legal. But then said to just to stick a couple (of red reflectors) on the bymper.
Would have to ask cops to be sure.

I can see any probs as long as red reflectors are on the rear of the car, have a look at all the VN-VS wagons on the road and they have them in the rear bumper not the lights. I think VZ commy sedans are that way too

Ok i have answered this question a few times now so let me be clear:

In NSW, you do NOT need red reflectors on the rear of your car. The only regulation is that your brake lights illuminate red. I got this information directly from the RTA road regulations guy so you can be sure it is accurate.

I don't know about other states' rules, you might have to check by phoning the RTA.
