Funny when i had mine made, they said exactly the same thing, 20k to get it done, so i made one using steel and glass, but a one piece glass one will be gold, and i will have a spare as well.

We considered a group buy but getting 30 odd people was a bit extreme.
They also expressed lack of interest due to the EF being an aging model.

10 people at 700 each is only 7 grand and they're doing them... I wonder what changed.

yes.. ef/el may be an aging car but that just makes it more affordable to youngin's willing more to hot the car up and will to throw cash away willy nilly...

I assume this is clear coated.
It's then the same price as the BA ones.
So an unpainted carbon shouuld be had for around $990 plus cost of struts then.

Heres the original thread I started regarding the 10 people group buy that was going on at FordForums.com.au:
http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopi ... ght=carbon

And here is a link to the when I tried to start this in Febuary of 2006 - http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopi ... ght=carbon

This is the e-mail I receivedd from them back then:

Quote:
At this stage we would not be looking at doing an E-series bonnet as
this market will be getting smaller and smaller as time progresses.

Including labour and materials it comes in at around $20,000 to produce
a good quality bonnet mould. So really we would need to sell AT LEAST
25 bonnets to even break even, let alone make a profit.

Thanks for your enquiry.

So funny how things have changed 18 months ago they thhough the market wwas getting smaller - now they suddenly think it;s viable.

18 months ago they had 20grand development costs (funny since I found a guy locally who quoted me 3 grand to make a one off carbon fibre bonnet with bulge for the EF) and needed 25 people. Now they can do with 10 people putting up 700ish so only 7 grand.

Hmmmm... Funny hhow thhings change...
