Inspired by the BMW 5 series, i liked the idea of having some amber/yellow lighting in the head light. From this i came up with the idea to introduce an amber/yellow light into the spot/kerb light in the lower bar of the fairmont.

I bought these spotties off ebay, in worse condition that initally thought, anyway a bit of warm sopy water and then some silicon fixed them up ok.

I actually hadnt had a closer look at these before and realised they are all plastic and have a normal bulb, not halogen.

Anyway i decided to put another whole in the back part of it so it now has 2 bulbs, the original one and a t10 bulb, in the t10 bulb i put an amber coloured bulb, and left the normal bulb fitted for the other one. I wired up the t10 to the park lights, along with the normal bulb although fitted a switch for the normal one.

The result is having amber coloured spotties (for that japanese/ european look) and normal spot lights at the flick of a switch.

this is all purely cosmetic, and anyone who fits these lights and says it improves vision at night is a liar!!

ive attached some piks, cant really tell in these but in person (esp at night) you can seriously tell the difference.

I would prefer a yellow t10 bulb but apparently they dont make them, so amber will do. I think it adds a nice touch to the front at night.

Thats because they are not "spotties" but cornering lamps, intended to light the way around dark corners.

i realise that twason but alot of people have mentioned they use them as "spotties". Even as cornering lights they aren't the best i have seen.
Purely cosmetic i think.

Agree with you there.

Yep, they are wanktastic, hehe.

Orange hey, I've wanted to do something similar myself, but didn't think of modifying my cornering lamps.

Some night time pics would be good, it's even hard to see that they are orange in those pics.
