Does anyone know how to fix a rear bumper on an EF/EL?
Basically it has dropped or sagged a bit and there is a larger gap at the rear of the side than at the front of the sides. Obviously there is a bigger gap at the back of the car too. I want to know how to secure it back so it sits flush all round. |

Never had the prob myself though I have had the rear bumoer off. There are 2 bolts on both sides inside the boot hidden behind big oval shaped rubber grommets,I would suggest this would be the first avenue of attack for adjusting the bumper.Theres also some clips that are fastened to the side of the car body where the bumper slides into when fitting, maybe you have a broken one or two, another thing to check.
Cheers. |

yeah, the clip on mine is busted so the bar sticks out sideways a bit. can't wait to fix that.

How hard is it to remove the bumper? Undo those 4 bolts and then what?
Are there any rivets needed to get taken out? |

At the drivers side underneath there is 2 rivets attached to the bar. they need to come out for the bar to come off. be careful removing them as your fuel tank is not far from them. the 2 bolts on each side in the inside can be a b**ch to get at, and becareful not to drop your socket in this area, i did and it is a b**ch to get at even with a magnet

I don't envy you any attempt at fixing sag Timmeh. I had a thread on FM1 last year all about fitting a new rear bar from Ford after someone drove into the rear of my car and all the problems I had getting the panel beaters to get rid of the "sag". It was 1 month of dramas. In the end they spent quite a bit of time carefully heating the new rear bar just on those spots that did not fit flush after fitment.
And Ford had crappy fresh bars from whoever they gave the contract to which were all the same so no satisfaction there either.

What will make it worse is that it has a heavy duty towbar and an XR rear skirt too!
Is it worth not doing anything at all or should I have a crack? |

Well Timmeh trying is your first step to failure.

Well these pics are of the ripple in the rear bar when it was noticeable. Is this the same situation you have?

Not whinge whinge whinge, he got rear ended the poor bugger; he put his time n money into his car and getting it fixed up; so vic at least deserves a good job IMHO aye.
Good on ya vic for sticking it to them, ill be the same when my fbt is going in for a resprayed rear bumper this week, and to fix same prob as you had; some silly woman got a lil close n left some white paint (mind outa the gutter plz) on my rear bumper, thankgod no damage to the car, just a scratch and a tow ball cover.
