I am looking at doing the whole cooling system replacement on my Ef monte, its got only 170 thou on the clock, but I am trying to preserve the head as much as possible as I understand they are very weak. I really dont want to part with the current setup like dropping an au tickford head on it as the donk in her now is about at toey as a teenager on his first date. The plan is radiator, pump, thermo + housing, maybe bigger fans ( or atleast refresh the old ones), heater tap, hoses and a cleanout of the whole cooling system including overflow bottle.
I dont know why for a car with a weak head, Ford would ever decide to minimalise air induction into the bay of the Ef........ but hey, they have the " brainy" blokes working for them calculating amounts of air induction needed for a weak head. Yeah right on there Casio "scientific' calculators. Anyway, the plan is to actually use the fake grill idea and actually make it really allow air into the bay. Please someone tell me that there is an Ef or El Fairmont bonnet that actually has a working grill. I would have hoped that by the end of the E series, Ford had worked out maxing on the bay air flow. Could I even drop a b series grill onto another bonnet? I do plan to put a bonnet scoop on it (gt), but I was thinking of using that for engine induction. Besides it s**t me that I have a front grill thats a plastic fake. Might aswell put a trd or ralliart sticker on it and weld 8 metal flared pipes to the bonnet for that real fake look.
So after that rant, what options do I have getting a grill on the ef monte that allow air to enter the engine bay?

Ef monte grill is bolted onto the bonnet. You will need to cut a hole into the bonnet itself behind the grill. It would be very easy to do. Use a deep 10mm socket to take the grill part off and then cut out in between the bolt holes. I would be worried about water getting in there though on rainy days (especially driving behind trucks), or people getting into my bay a whole lot easier.
