Am I being ignorant, but are there very few of these grilles out there? Have only seen a couple, are they rare?

hmm, I suspect you might be referring to an nl fairlane, and yes fairlanes are less common being a (higher/est?) specced car.

Or you mean the later EF Ghias that were EF grills, but chrome outer.
Very rare, I wish I had one. Lol, O I remember when I wanted to chrome mine. Still do.

Yeah EF for sure, outer part of grille painted as usual but just the centre part chrome, which is otherwise a satin grey finish

Easy, just get your self a 10 mm tube socket and undo 6 or so nuts and presto.....new grille. I changed my EF fairmont grille to a fairlane grille in like 5-10 minutes. |

i in fact have the same problem with the ef fairmonts the grilles are hard to find becos they are made more rare for the fact that the falcon model has no grille....... my boyfriend actually has an el fairmont ghia and the grille on that is damaged we have been trying for months to find one they are hard to find....though we were told they are easy to find in sydney australia.

In answer to my own question, had an old guy come into work today with an EF2 ghia with the exact part I'm after, he said it was painted the same colour as the car - got a few stone chips in it so rubbed it back and under the paint CHROME
