Hi guys,

has anyone done an EF/EL front end onto ED conversion?

I ask because I love the nose of the EF XR6 and would love to see it grafted onto mine..

No doubt I'd have to redo the rear bumper as well.. they trim strips should line up fine since I've read the EF/EL door skins are the same.

Anyone?

to start with you will have to remove your old radiator support panel and have a new EF/EL one welded in its place, not such a simple job nor is it cheap as you will need a engineers certificate,,

really?

That is a bummer..

Was hoping the mods would be minor...

I might look into it anyway, I might be able to modify the front bar and guards to fit the EA rather than the other way around. do some creative glassing and such.

If you like the look of an EF front end - why dont you buy one, an EF that is, and tack an XR front on that? Better car all round, not to mention the interior...

I prefer my ED ghia interior to the EF...

Plus, everyone can go out and buy an EF.. there is nothing original in that.. I want something different.. it's a mental defect of mine.. I don't want what anyone else can just go out and buy..

I'm looking to buy an old trashed EL anyway because I want to nick the top half of the motor.. if it has a reasonable front end.. I will have a shot of modding it to suit.

sounds like a fun mod and would definately be one of a kind.

I did about a dozen searches before I posted here.. didn't find anything..

As for the bonnet, how far out would the lock mech for the bonnet be? (might be able to move the mech and redrill rather than cut out and replace the whole thing.

I have a mig welder and a shed full of tools..

could be fun and would be interesting to look at..

I've never liked the shape of the boot and tail lights on the EF/EL.. but always loved the front overhang frontbar and the front guards...

would look very different.. and i could drive around and watch the ford fans try to work out what it is...

if you look at both front end with the gear off them wyou will see there is a big diffrence between the 2 rad supports.

as the lights go in diffrent the rad sitis lower the bonet come down more as well

for the effort to try and mod your old rad support it would bsafer and faster to unpick the old one and mig in a new one
