As the others have said - kit good, scoop bad. I don't think you'll be able to put anything over the whole in that location and have it look good either, so it looks like you've stuffed you bonnet :x

Expensive lesson, but it's a good idea to photoshop and "non-conventional" mods like this that are some what irreversible.
Wow, looks like Hyena has given me the 'kiss of death' on this one!

While I've taken note of all of your comments, I still feel that I will be able to find a more 'cosmetic' alternative without too much hassle!

Will keep you posted...thanks guys.

My only exception for that scoop would be if it improved performace. Does it? The scoop looks as if it sits over the intake snorkel.

at least its not like this:

horrible

Hey mate,

You observed right, it does sit RIGHT over the intake snorkel (with hole cut through bonnet where snorkel recess is).

That was the idea, to free up some more air (hopefully COLD) into the snorkel, as the snorkel seems to be very boxed in & restricted when bonnet is down!

I can't say for definite that it has improved performance, but I can definitely feel & hear air being drawn through the scoop when engine is running.

I mean, it has to be breathing better, right?

The idea of the 'scoop' shape was to also 'catch' & direct air into the snorkel when at speed.

Apart from that, I didn't want rain & water going into the snorkel, so I thought the scoop shape would be better for minimising this.

Maybe good idea in theory (and maybe practice?), but not everyone's cup of tea cosmetically!?

Oh well...

This may seem like a daft idea, but why not find another scoop and match it on the other side of the bonnet, so the one on the left doesnt stand out like a boil on a butt.

Overall tho, sweet look to your car dude

ok, i have this idea, i was going to do it to my eb, but ill tell you the secret.

1) REMOVE SCOOP, and replace/fix bennet. LOL
2)cut the top off the airbox lid (being sure to leave the edges on to hold clips and filter in place)
3)extend edges of the airbox lid right up so they are flush with underneath of bennet (less 'new' air escaping)
4)install new (more lowprofile, more steamline)scoop directly over the airbox.

i beleive this will look better as it is less 'off centre' and more 'to the side'. it may even prove to be more effecient.

comments please.

i think u should get a wrx style scoop mounted centraly towards the front. recessed of course.. prob a bit of work but it would be interesting to see what the performance gain is.

Cheers mate, NICE pics ...what happened to the car?

Nice to get some positive scoop feedback at last ...at least you can see my reasoning behind it!

Will see how I go, but may look at a more cosmetic alternative...

Thanks Veridian!

I thought of that option too, at least it would look more symmetrical!

But maybe also a flatter, wider, centre-mounted scoop, that would also cover the hole, but look more even.

By the way, have added some interior shots as well, of new steering wheel, shift kit etc.

Enjoy!

What about something like this that sits more flush with the bonnet but still lets air through
