Hi all,
I know there are a number of fixes for this that are either VERY time consuming or expensive but there is a way to get rid of that nasty yellow color DIRT CHEAP, in a quick and safe manner. I have heard of people sanding their lights back using sand paper and also spending a packet on premium polishes imported from the U.S as well as having thin layers of plastic shaved off the lens - these all can be a lot of work and for me I think I would rather just buy a new pair & save the hassle. Alright to the quick fix! It is as simple as getting an ice cream tub full of warm water & using a NON ABRASIVE cloth (eg. the thin yellow/blue ones with holes) and adding to the water four or five tablespoons of ajax. (so that the water turns white and there are some particles to rub on) Then you can slowly rub away that yellow color and the lights will return to a clear plastic. I did not cover my bumper or anything, just hosed off the excess water/ajax mix after rubbing the light for about 3 minutes each. This will remove the yellow color and some of the cloudyness but will not remove all of the cloudyness if the lights are burnt badly (it will still be worth doing this though as clear lights always look better than yellow!) This method is by far the easiest of the lot & I was amazed with the results, my really stood out as yellow as the rest of the car was mint. I just had a brainwave one afternoon to try this & presto back to clear costing around 1 dollar & 6 minutes of my time. Hope this enables the E-series clan to look meaner than ever! Cheers |

1200 sand paper keep the paper wet, then use cut and polish with an electric buffer, mine came out looking brand new, needs lots of elbow grease though,

Don't laugh - toothpaste as an abrasive works as well . . . .
EDIT: Don't use your toothbrush to apply it though

that baking soda toothpaste worked well on cleaning all of the s**t off of my exhaust tip, followed by a splash of water and drying with a cloth

I sanded one of mine back recently, came up a treat, the other one looks like its brand new, im guessing the previous owners had to change it for roadworthy

Hate to be a bubble burster guys, but all your doing is delaying the inevetable. this problem WILL return, usually within @6 months. So many of my customers have told me of all the fixes known to man (& some not) but the end result is the same. The only true fix is to strip (dissassemble) the headlight & "dip & strip" the lens as I've been doing for years, have had no returns & many glowing endorsements on this & Ford Forums as well as some others (Skyline-Supra) owners forums as this problem is not specific to Fords.
