My EFII Futura has the red and blue, but my Dad's EL Futura is all white. Not a gli/futura thing.

Didn't the series 1 have the fairlane style door moulds, and the series 2 have the smaller ones, like the EL?

after some use of the ashtray the cover would not "clip" into place, requiring a lot of attempts at closing it or hitting it hard to try and get it to shut.. i replaced ashtray thinggy the other week as it was shut when i bought the car, then after i replaced the head unit, the ashtray never shut again... only problem is with the series II ashtray centre bit is that it uses 1 screw on the bottom, rather than one on each side like the series I, so you have to be careful pulling out the ciggarette lighter...

With the ashtray not closing properly.. push it upwards and to the left while you are pushing it up, works everytime :)
