I cannot buy an El check strap(which is the nylon thing that stops the door slamming on you) from ford has anyone found a way around say modifing them some how to work

have you got a picture of it to show what part you talking about

I think you maybe referring to the door locking slide to hold the door open so that it dosent keep closing ?

yeah that sounds like it the ford dealership told me its actually called a check strap and I never new the name of it but spose it could be a case you say tomato and i say "tomayto"

i got defected because this part didnt work properly on my old ef and the bloke who pink sliped my car told me not to bother fixn it cause they always f#k up

Yeah they stop working with age. If you're working on a car temporarily you can stick a flat head in there.. You can try prying it out a bit to help the door to stay open. If Ford don't sell new ones now I don't think there is much in ways to buy new ones; not aware of aftermarket.

update:I have observed and pulled one apart...I have found out that the yellow hard polywhatever it its ,isn't actually the problem part there is actually a rubbery something which acts to push the yellow bit out and act as dampening.Right now I'm expirementing with putting materials in behind such as cutting polyurethane sway bar rubbers no success as yet but lets y'all know when I find something
