Love the work! Didn't think it was possible to actually sand it down so smooth, always thought the cover wasn't thick enough for it. Good to see you saw it through and now you can actually light up the road, unlike the stock yellow aging EF/EL lights that have f**k all light travel.

Unfortunately, with the time involved in these things, they will cost way too much.
I am going to try something new in the coming months though.

Any way the projectors can be modded or replaced into the el XR head lamp??
Had a look in your build thread and your hid's beam is better than mine .

I'm not sure.
I had XR headlights on my XF, but I didnt know about retrofitting then so I never paid that much attention to how the low beam unit went together.

Its a tough one, because the unit is fully sealed. There have been a few fully sealed retros done at http://www.hidplanet.com. You'd be best searching there for ideas.
Or if the unit is able to be taken apart, you might be able to squeeze a miniH1 projector into it, or if not that one, the new morimoto matchbox projector might fit.

If someone has a broken one, I can take a look at it and see what can be done.

I'm hoping there is a hid projector replacement for the el XR halogen projector . I'm sure the halogen projector can be removed. ??
With your projectors hid's are they h1??

I dont like your chances of finding a replacement. The projector low beam unit that Ford used is very unique. If you get me a Hella part number off it, I might be able to find some more info.

Its a sealed unit to protect the inner projector lens from rocks, sand, etc. What I mean is I dont know if the internal projector can be removed from the unit itself.

Mine uses OEM bulbs, D2S to be exact.
This is the projector I used...

did the shrouds come with the projector, if not where do you get it from?

Depends which projector you buy. The MiniH1 projector comes with a shroud, but a lot of people change it anyway. Projectors like the ones I used (FX-R) don't come with a shroud, you either need to make your own, or you can get shrouds from the same place as the projector. There's quite a few different designs available.

I've done some research and I can upgrade the ford XR lights.
It will be a non-reversible mod and will require a pair of the ford low beam modules.

Did you get a part number off them yet?

In case anyone following this thread missed it, I've put up an EOI for making clear lenses for EA-EL falcons. I will be updating that thread when I get round to starting on it.

Do tell us more on the xr lights. Very interested to see what you are doing. I've been wanting to do this kind of mod for years now, just never got around to it.
