Hi Guys,

I am just after a bit of info and opinions at this stage. I am only a few months off installing a full custom whipple supercharger set up from Snort performance and CVE so I have been thinking about other mods I would like to do to the car once thats done.

I am giving the car a full respray, and fitting the BA XR8 bulge (I bought a whole new bonnet so I can cut and get it welded on). The car already has chrome inserts on the door moulds but none on the front and rear bumpers.

Now I want to go with either of the following options
1. Purchase a set of twin headlights which suit the EL fairmont and install them
2. Get hold of a EL/EF XR front end (front bumper with lights) and install that with the BA bulge.

But I want to be able to install chrome inserts into the front and rear bumpers (does anyone know where to find the actual moulds) I can only seem to find the chrome bit?

Also with the XR front bar can you fit the ford factory corning lights (the ones like fog lights in the bottom)

Now my dilemma is I dont wanna spend a stupid amount on a conversion, and at the same time I dont like the idea of a having mixed car EL Fairmont/XR. But they look damn sexy.
Also the other issue is trying to find a genuine bar which is in good condition, and I need one with a tickford front lip as I already have the kit fitted.

Would anyone be kind enough to tell me all the parts required to swap over to the xr front end so far all that I know of is
Headlights, indicators, bonnet, and front bar itself.
Missing anything?

What are peoples thoughts.? and can anyone let me know if they are selling a complete front conversion (must be good condition)
cheers in advance

You can split the EL XR top (Light Section) and fit it to the lower section of the Fairmont Bar. Cornering lights won't bolt straight into an XR Bar.

as SWC has said it can be done , you need to split the XR bar and use the lower bar as a templete to cut out the fairmont bar so the XR upper can be joined to it as a std XR bar , i did this about 10 years ago ( trying to find a pick of it ) for you so you get to see how it will really look like

Its not the end of the world if I cant have the fog lights on the xr front bar. I just assumed they would fit.

If they dont, no biggy I will just keep em with the Fairmont front bar as I will have both anyway...

But I would love to see a pic of how it would look....

Damn that looks PORN!!!!!!!!!!!!

So what exactly is required to do that? Can someone please list all the parts that I will require?

I will get a professional to weld it all together and make it all neat because I am getting the bonnet welded on anyone (a steel one) no fiberglass crap!

I've also have done this conversion on my ef ghia but used the elxr venom bar with bulge bonnet also, with a 4.5L under the bonnet  .

I think you need to change bonnet aswell? can't remember 100% though..oh and relay for headlights as going for high series to low series lights

Hey fellas just wondering if anyone can tell me how i go about getting the moulds with the chrome insert in them? Like the ones above on the red xr. I need the ones for the front and rear bar as my doors already have the chrome trim moulds on them.

And i also wanted to know which model xr is it which does not have those vents on the bonnet? I dont really like em and plan on fitting on ba bulge instead.
Cheers in advance.

An ef falcon bonnet is the same as an xr bonnet, minus the vents.

Hi fellas I was looking into getting the el xr6 bumper moulded into the el fairmont front bar to create something like the red car above however it seems like to much stuffing around. I was browsing online and came across a few xr's which have a neat set of foggy's some fitted to the factory el XR bar. Which look very similar to the factory cornering lights.

Can anyone tell me where to find them? The car with plates madel had them and also a green el fairmont with the plates xxv 197. Anyone know them or the owners?

Hey mate. I think the lights your talking about are from hella. Somewhere on here I saw the part number. I think I found them by typing in on google "nl turning lamps" and looked there the threads.
Also about the chrome trim, I brought some from the wreckers a few months ago, but they needed painting so I did a cheap job and just used a pressure pack can and painted them myself. Looks ok and you cant realy notice the difference
