Dudes.

Just saw a white XR6 with the red stripe, and thought that might look good on my white 1997 EL futura with tickfords....currently has the white strips.

Havent even looked at it, but does anyone know if its an easy job? Can I do it myslef, and where do you get the strips from?

Advice from someone whos done it would be sweet....

Cheers
Morgz

i did it to my 1995 EF Gli (my last car) - a pretty easy but time consuming process. i scored my red stripes off ebay for $150, but you can still get them from fraud. you rip the old ones off, spend ages picking off the double-sided tape left by the old ones, then stick the new ones on! :)

getting the old tape off can be time-consuming, as you need to be careful of your paintwork - use hot water/eucyplutus oil/meths etc to get the last of it off :wink:

def a worthwhile mod!

Red is prone to fading, ending up a pink colour. A lot of XR owners would tell you the same thing. At the end of the day, if you like it then do it. Good luck!

Just talk to people with XR's. Most of them seem to want to get rid of the red stripes, so buy there's off em for cheap.

the red looks sweet on the xr's gee, gives it a bit of extra look i rekon, and it only fades if you dont look after it, its not like it turns pink after a week or something

Hornet dude....your EL Futura Rocks! Looks like you'd get some guard scrapin action there though.....

Love the clear indicators. Have you changed the door inserts?. Hard to tell from the photos....looks like the standard whities...

I plan to keep my stripes but have been thinking of painting them either the same as the car or go for something like a gun metal silver with clear side indicators.

Or take the off, run the router over them to have a nice groove running the length of them. Then colour code them to the car but paint the groove silver.Leaving a clean pin strip effect.
