Doing that will lower the suspension approx 1" to 1.5"s, but, it will soften the rear end.
This will mean you will bottom out very easily with anything over two passengers etc. I did this trick but sourced a second pair of leaf springs from a ute, and then used an extra small spring on top to retain the stiffness. Cheers BenJ

Ben,
Could you please show me a picture of what you mean by a: Quote: extra small spring on top to retain the stiffness. Here are a few more pics of the wagon. Notice how the rear sits higher than the front? could I get away without doing anything to the front suspension?

Based on that fact my Mum is the best around! |

Thanks EVL098 - i probably won't do it.
Do you/anyone think 17" EL XR6 rims would look good on the EL??...Im thinking of picking up a pair for $450 on eBay (+60% tread)

What would my wagon look best lowered at? I still want to use it to carry things in the back without it bottoming out. Just confirming that I will have to purchase new front springs (as well as the lowering blocks)?
-1" -1.5" -2" -Or more? Thank you

all depends on how low you wanna go mate.
if you want it to look mint but be totally unpractical id go King springs SSL (-70mm) front coil, king springs only make a leaf in SL (-50mm) or get the leaf reset and put some 1-1.5inch lowering blocks. the tailshaft will probably hit the body alot, bottom out and it will scrape. but it will look awesome! if you want more practical. go SL front and SL rear leaf or leaf reset. and wheels. dont waste 450 on those xr wheels. get something nice. whatever you buy make sure it is in pre-au offset! anything from AU onwards will NOT fit your car. personally id go with a set of 19inch GT-P copies. pre au offset. would be a nice looking wagon then.

Thanks for your interest peoples...sorry not much has happened!
- I replaced a LHS indicator unit because the lens broke off - I need to remove the mud flaps soon. So that’s going to happen! - These wheels should be turning up soon... in Melb ATM. 17" CSA...they're copies of the EF/EL tickford. Hopefully they're ok. cwhitz - I like the dark agents but unfortunally out of the price bracket! - When I get the wheels I see if it makes any difference to ride height. I've read through a few forums and was thinking about 30mm low springs for the front and 2" lowering blocks on the back OR get the springs reset. I think spring reset may be a little pricey. If I go the blocks I will read up about what BenJ did with load helpers - I have no idea how/what they are but he said they help stiffen to rear or something?! - Wouldn't mind clear side indicators, but the eBay ones are too expensive! Other people said they managed to fit BA one's on, not sure how they did it tho. - I’m also on the lookout for a XR6 wagon rear spoiler! What do people think about that? Hard to find unfortunately. Help and comments appreciated! Cheers Drew

My EL was lowered by pedders cost me $500 all up. New front spring and reset rear leaves. If you go this way make sure you tell them what you want as all I told them was I wanted to keep the Fairmont ride and forgot to tell them it was a daily driver so when you loaded the back up with shopping it suffered ducks disease.
