Hey guys, new to the forums.

I've just started a 6 to 8 conversion on the old NL (giving the old girl a bit of a birthday).

I'd love to put a EL GT kit on this car, however there are a couple of areas I am not clear on.

A.) Can you buy GT kits?
B.) Suggestions on how to get it to fit (I understand the side skirt and rear apron wont fit).
C.) GT Rims? Can you still buy them and what size would be best on the NL.

Thanks in advance guys.

You first Problem is the front bar and side skirts. No one make EL GT replicas. you can get those EF GT Kits. but EL GT are only avalible as a genuine.

Fronts bars are not a problem aslong as they fit Fairmonts, EL GT bars are available as original only and good luck finding one, as phatEB said you can get what is called th EF GTbar. Side skirts will need to be custom made or use what is available for Wagons,ie XR side skirts. There are TS side skirts available for the AU which can be custom fitted to the Fairlane or any LWB E series. Rear bar is the real problem as no-one does a Fairlane rear bar that I am aware or so a custom build would be needed there.

EL GT rims original are 8.5 x 17 inch, Ithink there is a set on here for sale and copies are 8 x 17 inch again a couple of sets were on offer on this site.

While it'll look great (IMHO) it'll be a lot of custom work.

Those EF GT bars aren't even close to the same as the EL GT ones. (a poor copy).

Again EL GT stuff is only available genuine. And rare as.

Good luck, and hope you have plenty of coin.

theres was a person who was doing EL GT "half front bars" that looked pretty close.

They called it a SVO GT kit, and no its not the EF GT kit Mongoose has on his car..... and the grille can be purchased from the EF GT kit (the fairmont version)

Hey guys, thanks for that.. yes alot of custom work.

The GT stuff is hard as hell to find. So yeah, the GT option I think is out espcially given its an LWB.

I was looking around the galleries and found the pictures of SWC's Wagon!... OMG.. I'm inspired.

gallery.php?img=17365&mid=0

Rang a few places (all dont do custom work... ala Spoilershop, SSV etc). They mentioned to get the BF S1 Typhoon apron grafted to the NL's, would be a complex. But seeing that SVC did it, I think I'll need to find a Fibreglass place.

I found the XB Bonnet intakes on ebay... its a complete skin... {DESCRIPTION}

SWC's front bar as shown above is commercially available.
you can buy it off the shelf..
your biggest issue is the sides and rears.

you can get tickford side skirts to suit a LWB, or you could modify some LWB AU/BA side skirts to fit.

then you're left with the rear.

Cheers,

Spoke to the guys at Newgel, they have them. Which is awesome.

I'm going to work with them on BF Typhoon rear bar and the moded side skirts.

Thank you so much guys!

Appreciate the help. :)

Will post some pics once I get her sorted.

Yse the Phoon bar is available from Newgel in Canberra and also from Phat Body Kits in Melbourne.

AU TS side skirts are available to suit the AU Wagon so length wise is ok for the Lane, will just need a little reshaping to fit up, as we both know with the BA skirts John.

Yep.
Deffinately not a straight fitup, but atleast it opens up a few more options.

Excellent..

I'll organise the sideskirts too.

newgel will also do the XB bonnet (so it looks like SWC's rockin wagon), quoted me 1100 primed on my bonnet.. So one stop shop for me.

Shipping from WA I know is going to be rediculous, so gotta call a wrecker in Canberra to get a EL bonnet there.. cheaper than shipping I reckon.

Now to flog the old engine and tranny as the misses doesnt want the house looking like a Wrecker yard.

Also had a quote from trimmers here to dedo the leather interior... 5k. That does all the seats (with perferated inserts in seats and door trim in close to original mocha color) and also to redo the steering wheel (old EL series momo).. replace carpet and lining.

Engine conversion and Engine upgrades...now at $8,700.00

Will look at those EL GT rims you mentioned SWC. There was a set on ebay. Cheers for the tip on the exhaust... They said they had included the price of removing the existing tank etc. Said no way.. I need my spare man!

Cheers for all your help guys, appreciated. Will post pics as we proceed!
