Quick question, can anyone tell me what model guards, lights and bonnet the el gt used? Where they just standard (same as GLI), or were they from a higher spec model. Also, was the radiator support the same accross all models?

From memory, the radiator supports are the same across the EF and EL models, but where slightly different to the EA - ED models. The bonnets were fairmont items, as the grilles were interchangable between the fairmont and GT

Yeah, thats right. Im not sure how far things extended, but lights may be different. I dont know a real lot on the subject, so theres probably a good idea to wait for someone else

Ordering EL GT grille
If you buy it whole, it costs $460, but if you buy it in parts, only $257. Here's a part number rundown: GTTVE 8B160 A Insert Rad Grille $54 GTTVE 8A317 A Grille Surround $83 GTTVE 8A123 A Bracket Rad Grille $60 EF 8K141 B Nameplate Ford $19 V 820183 S36D Nut U-type $1.30 V 800353 S57B Bolt assembly M5 x20 $1.50 V 388689 S36D NUT $0.80 All I ended up using on my EF GLI was the Insert Rad Grille, Grille Surround and Nameplate.

Tim,
The EL GT was based on the EL Fairmont Ghia - the grille is interchangeable as some members on here have done. The front bar, sideskirts with wheel arch flares are difficult to come by - I think andrrewsfutura made mention of the kit being available for EF's in FM V1...obviously some kind of replica...but yeah very rare, as I don't think I have seen a completely mocked up EL Ghia to look like a GT as yet. |

Ah ok. Not looking for exact replica, just something along those lines. Although, might have a look at the venom fronts too..... just looking at options at the moment.
Cheers

I got quoted close to $1000 from three different ford spare parts dealers, and that was using those part numbers. Ended up buying mine of ebay.

I heard on FordMods V1 that someone had an entire fakey GT kit on their EF. Specifically for an EF.
Does anyone know anything about that? Tempting thought thats all!! |

As I understand it, the front ends for both the EF and EL Fairmonts (and therefore the EL GT) are identical meaning you should be able to fit the EL GT stuff to an EF with no trouble at all.

I understand your angst at the prices. But on the other hand, if I had a REAL EL GT (and hopefully I will soon), I wouldn't want every man and his fairmont to be copy cats.
