Originals would be rare and priced accordingly , knock offs can be had for around $1300 for 4 new ones with tyres.

i reckon the originals are worth more (around 2k). on close inspection they are alot different to a copy, the aftermarket el gt's are just a cheaper alternative.

edit: both are 17"x8"
here is a link to the website: http://ssv.com.au/product.php?MG-ELGT-CH

Genuine EL GTs are 17*8.5, and are both no-go for insurance, as well as hitting the strut at the top. Hence the EL GT having different front end.

The copies, while not being *identical* do in fact look the goods.

Genuine GT wheels are around the $2,000 - $2,500 mark depending on condition and depending what rubber is sold with them.

Getting hard to find the genuine wheels, but the copies are plentiful

No, not the case, whilst being 8.5, they will fit any falcon. Upper control arms are identical on EL GT to any falcon.

thanks Nigel for the info, i allways thought the original EL GT was an 8" rim.
im chasing a set of 17" EB GT's atm and as far as i know they are 8", it would be good if someone did a replica but they dont.
i had the chance to pick a set up in vic about a month ago but i need something local. i reckon ill be lucky to get the original set in brisbane.

I'd say originals would have ROH printed on them somewhere.

Originals are 17x8.5, and I will get some pics of what they have written on them tonight. The first batch even have the GT build number on them, and originally came is a real gold colour, then were changed to a lighter gold after media criticism. I have sets of both here.

One of the upper parts of the GT Suspension was modified so that the 8.5 in rim would clear. Otherwise the tyre got rubbed out from the inside.

There has been talk of that part in these forums. Unfortunately Im getting old (35) and have alzheimers (or the next best excuse) and cant remember the exact detail.

I had the 8in version on my last EB (its in Sydney somewhere with a LOT of RWHP now ;( )

The Colour is called Champaigne

Not sure if they are still available but worth a try.

EB GT Rims are 8.5" wide

EL GT wheels are 8.5" wide. Spokes are thicker than the copies. Copies tend to have the tickford wings in the centre caps where as the Genuine ones have the Ford logo. Centre caps are not interchangable between the two. Copies are only 8" wide.
