Hi fellas,

I have finally picked up a genuine EL tickford bodykit for my EL xr8. Overall it is fine considering how old they are now and will need some decent prep to get rid of all the scratches and scrapes.

So it's not too bad, however it does have 2 very small cracks the size of a 10cent piece.
I wanted to find out how much I would be looking at if I had them repaired correctly? ( I don't want no fiberglass crap)

I am in Melbourne western suburbs is preferable.

Cheers

Can you take some pictures of it? Are you planning on stripping it off the original paint and then respraying it to match the car?

Are the cracks just that, cracks? Not like a 10c piece hole from a crack that needs filling? If it's the former, they are simple to repair with a soldering iron and some ABS plastic cable ties as filler. If it's the latter, you can go to the wreckers, find small bits and pieces of ABS bumper plastic and cut them to the dimensions needed and using cable ties as fillers again.

I will be repairing some motorcycle fairings that have broken mounting tabs. If I am successful, I can give you a hand with yours? Although the finish may require sanding and prepping, hence the question with complete strip/respray or just crack fixing, leaving paint job.

I will be getting the whole kit sanded back and resprayed to suit the color of the car.

You can try and plastic weld yourself. Just get a cheap soldering iron. Use ABS plastic as filler, which most cable ties are made of I believe.

I think i will leave it to the pro's mate. I dont want to stuff it up. The kits are hard enough to find as it is.
