Wondering if anyone can help. The headlights on our EL XR8 are absolutely terrible!!!! Is this a common problem???? How do I adjust them correctly??? Is there anyway to make them better as the local ford dealer told me not to put in bigger bulbs as they can burn out the housings. I live in the bush and driving at night is an absolute nightmare, please help!!!!

Do they point on the road?
If our lighting up the possums in the trees you can adjust where they point or get halogems or spoties.

G'day, welcome to the forums. Maybe try like what some of the other blokes on here have done and get yerself an HID headlight kit. Expensive (around $500-$600 from memory), but very effective from what i have read. The new globes just replace the standard ones and all you have to do is mount a ballast somewhere to power 'em.

The left side is a possum spotter and the right side is sort of on the road. Hit a wallaby a few months ago and had to have most of the front replaced (very, very expensive little exercise :( ) and so the left is a brand new light. They don't seem to have been adjusted when it came back from the panel beaters. I can work out the vertical adjustment, but not how to adjust the horizontal or how to adjust each light seperately (if that's possible).

Any business that does rego inspections should have a headlight aligner. Probably a good place to start.

Thanks Bob, to be honest, I didn't even think of that as it's been so long since I've had a roadworthy done on a car. So far that is probably my cheapest and easiest fix to start with. Many thanks. :) Has anyone had problems with driving lights mounted inside the front air dam on an EL XR8? Just curious to know if they get hit by stones and break easy or if they would affect cooling?
