Well its all coming together now...

Started back in December 2005 (the car probably hasnt seen the road since middle of 2005) with the replacement of the carpets.... never do that again. Lucky that the resto came about, the thing was a death trap. Its had every nut and bolt stripped out and repainted/replaced etc. I have taken pictures from the first day and then every couple of days through the stripping process and every few weeks through the body work and paint. Its amazing to see how far it has come and how much better it is looking!

Shame it won't make it to the nationals this year

It needs a wash as it was painted about 5 months ago. The parts have been hard to source and most of the parts needed to be re-conditioned a second time as they were done incorrectly (eg. the whole wiring harness was incorrect, it was sent off to be restored but we got sent a new reproduction one instead).

Its not a Falcon XY GT but a Fairmont XY GT (the Falcon's were re-badged over in South Africa). Its the same as the Falcon GT except the original Fairmont GT's have chrome hub caps, different door trim, the super roo on the stripes is deleted, it has extra welds on the front shock towers and a couple of other cosmetic differences.

The car is optioned with power assisted steering and has no A/C. Its the 4 speed (the plate shows 3 speed auto, but it looks like a dealer or possibly factory conversion) and is running 3.55 gears down the back. The colour is Quick Silver which is not the original colour it was painted (it was Diamond Blue).

The springs were picked up today so the diff is going on in the next day or two and the transmission and engine should be in by Monday.
