I am taking the trim off the side off my car for that clean look (too suit my bodykit) and the stupid d***head that resprayed my car about five years ago have glued the trim on!!! (see photo's, It looks like sikaflex) i need some suggestions on what i would need too do to get this crap off. I have tried kero, thinners and grease and wax remover + a plastic scraper but it is just taking forever i have spent most the day doing it and am getting nowhere. Thanks in advance.

Razor blades, rags and metho then plenty of elbow grease.

Yeah but razor blades will damagae the paint.

 Pretty sure I wouldnt use razor blades.
Try Prepsol or wax & grease remover & elbow grease.

Get ya missus' hair dryer and heat up the excess glue. Might come off a bit easier then. That's how i got the 4.0 OHC decals off the sides.

Thats a good idea. Might give me a good excuse to buy a heat gun

yes use the hair dryer. Not too hot though! maybe use eucalyptus oil or orange oil these are good and will not damage the paint.
use a plastic scraper with care. I used this to remove old company decals from a car I used to have. worked ok.

Lol, yeah i have seen GMC heat guns at Bunnings for like $30, they'll do the job, but you don't want it too hot or you will bubble the paint and it only goes worse from there haha.

Yeah after taking some more off it looks like they have used the trim (and the sika) to cover up a blend line... fkn d***head the paint looks average under there.

Hey buddy, you wont be able to get the sika flex off it is near imposable , and also most people use sika to stick the moulds on other wise they tend to fall off.

hey guys
my opinion im a panelbeater an spraypainter ido this s**t every day mate best way is a razor blade and wax and grease remover combined together will work perfect it wont scratch the paint if its done right and any minor scratches will buff out anyways cheers Drifty

Got one side done finally, what an effort. i just ended up persisting with the plastic scrapers and the wax and grease. looks good though gives a complete new look to the side of the car which im happy with, it should suit the body kit nicely.
