Ride: AU 1 Wagon

Location: Brisbane
QLD, Australia

Hi everyone, im a new member to this forum, Daves my name.

I have recently bought an AU series 1 Wagon xcab.

I would like to give the front of the car the BA look, is it possible to bolt on all of the front BA gear to an AU ? such as replacing the front guards, bonnet, grill and front bumper?

I wanted to buy a BA but they arnt available for another 3 years in a wagon in QLD,

this car is reliable, and just recently got alot of mechanical work done to it,

any suggestions?

Dave.

Simply getting rid of the plain series 1 grill and replacing it with a C2R grill can make it look totally different.

Get an AU2/3 XR front on it. Or buy an AU2 bonnet and get the TS50 front.
Heres a pic of the front of my old AU for some ideas. It had a C2R grill and tickford front skirt. I also had the headlight inserts colour coded.

no, its not that simple. Theres something to do with the radiator support needing to be changed. Its quite a big job but doable.

Yep you have to unstitch the current rad support and then weld on your BA rad support!

Hi everyone.

Very true about that radiator support, the holes for the headlights are too small for the BA headlights. was contemplating a hammer or oxytorch to make them fit, if the bumpers just bolt on with the side guards and grille and bonnet, then ill cut into the existing support to get the ba headlights thru.....

noticed the diference when visiting the wreakers today asking for a better grill, they told me get a new car! I was not impressed but they had an AU 1 Fairmont Ghia grill looks classy with the chrome strip, $30 dollars,

I have it out aside, my only question is how do I go about painting it white because it is metalic green. they said scotchbrite and paint...

If I go for the grill for $30 how would I prepare it properly? sandpaper?
scotchbrite? or just paint over the top of it........

Any ideas Fellas??

Cheers.

Dave

So A would a BF GT front bar fit on the front of an AU ute if it had a BA bonnet, quarter panels and XR Lights if not what more would be needed...?
