i went to a place in sunbury to get a quote on how much to fix the paint on my car. the guy there said about $1200 to fix all the clear coat ect... on the top side of the car. (bonnet, top of guards, roof and boot.)

Do people think is an ok price or could i do better?

Cheers

I got quoted $300 to fix the clear coat on the very top of my wagon hatch only so an entire top of a car would be about what you have been quoted I would say. The guy that quoted me said they would respray the whole section including the clear coat so that is probably why mine was so high.

Well I got quoted 200 to do the boot - full respray - 200 to do the roof - full respray and 200 to do the bonnet - full respray again.

Thats only 600, and its a full respray of each part. (minus top of guards)
I think you could do much better, heck a mate just got his VL wagoon fully resprayed in candy apple red (I think) for 2.5k - included a lot of body work/rust/dings + engine bay.... basically stripped it to a shell - for $2500.

i was speaking to a panel beater i know about doing mine, (clear coat has gone and colour is going) bonnet, roof, boot and both bumpers.

that was going to be $1800 all colour matched to the quarter panels.

depends on how good the panel beater is though. this guy is expensive but the quality of his work is second to none.

Yes depends on quality and where you go.

I had a car 4 years ago that suffered le hail damage. I got a panel shop to fix the lot and repaint it in Mulberry metallic. It was only $1800 for the full job, and a pretty good job.

However, last year i got a car quoted for just a respray with a little panel smoothing, and the d**k quoted me $7000! Naturally i said get f****d.

Just shop around, you will get a better deal.

Andrew.

when i spoke to the guy he said its prob not worth doing the sides of the car because the clear coat and paint is fine apart from some stone chips and scratches. he said come back some time next week to get a written quote. so when i go back i'll ask about the whole car.
And also from looking at the guys work he does do a very good job.

all the paint and clear coat on the sides of the car is in real good. after a tip to the car wash it looks real good. its just the bonnet, roof and boot lid. the bonnet def need a complete respray so i'll prob do that first to get it looking better and keep the cost down. then ill get the clear coat on the roof and boot lib fixed at a later date.
