Getting a front indicator from a EL Fairmont will it fit an EL XR?

I reckon the indicators on XRs dont look nearly as flash as the Fairmont ones.

you'll need to change the mouldings for the 'mont ones to fit - and therefore they won't match the XR ones!

What mouldings?
I mean the whole indicator lense and everything.
The quarter panels are the same arent they?

the 1/4 panels are the same yes, but the fairmont mouldings are fat ones which take up the entire 'gap' as such, but the XR ones don't - they are thin single mouldings - hence why they won't match! :)

HMMMM I'll have to check it when I get my XR8 back and swap em with the Fairmont ones to see what your talking about.
I was gonna go get a pair of Fairmont indicators today but I'll wait now.....to see if they fit or not.

Cheers Fraser

P.S. Please dont edit this HAHAHAHA

Theres also the added issue of the fact that without XR indicators, you'll have no parkers

lol point!

explain yourself next time pete!

if its the front indicator (next to the headlights) then again, they won't fit! and, as Cosham pointed out, you'll lose park lights, which are contained in the lower half of the XR indicator

If it's the sidemarkers then the EL Fairmont ones won't fit. EL Fairmonts use the same indicator lenses as NF/NL Fairlanes which are a different shape to the rest of the range (including the Futura-derived XRs). In order to make them fit, you need to replace the guard moulding.

It's not exactly a hard modification to do just fairly time-consuming because you have to paint the mouldings to match the body and applying several coats takes time. I've done the mod on my wagon (see my gallery) and it's certainly an improvement over the cheap orange ones. If you've got the time and the patience to do it I say go for it.

I was referring to the front indicator IE next to the headlights. Thats usually the front. Side repeaters are....at the side.
I forgot about the park lights. Oh well.
Damn good thought gone down the drain. I cant be a**'d wiring anything up.

If you could be bothered wiring it up, it would of been a good excuss to change the parkers to the high beam light housing so when you have driving lights on you have four lights lit up like someone else on here did.

why would you want to change the XR ones for any way? arn't they the same as the fairmont ones apart from the parkers being on the bottom of in indicator?
