Hi Guys ,
Just wanna say that this site makes my day... ever since i got on here i have been checkin out all ya rides, and seein how i can add to my luxury box... Here is some progress photos from what i have been doin lately.... And a big thanks out there to ... "Snickers00" (The missus really appreciated the plastic in the shed idea !) who inspired me to paint the old girl myself , rather than lettin someone else have all the fun..... I am keen to hear any suggestions that you think might make my ride look and move better.... Shes an 8 ... (is there anything else it could be ???) * I am doin paint first... (Electric Blue Mica Metallic) * Superlows with Correct Shockers next * A set of mags & tyres to finish off the look * Then looking for any options on body kits (I know Im dreamin !)

Yeah , I saw one the other day in silver , and it looked good... I have also seen a red one with custom skirts and front / rear bibs which also looked excellent...

Hi Snickers , yep you would know... Actually , am a bit disappointed.. as I went acrylic after all , and ended up with some dust... but worst of all , the roof and bonnet got dry spots in the clear coat... so I may have to sand back and redo them... the compounding didnt fix the problem... But thats what i get for doing a backyard job hey... hahahaha I did the whole plastic thing in the shed like u did , and would have really been stuffed if i didn't... Thanks for the tip...

Looking good man. Just a question, how long did it take ya to rub the primer back?? The pics of your car in primer, has that already been rubbed back or is that halfway through? I'm currently doing a paint job on my car and was just curious what other people's experiences have been...

Hi Rmyers ,
The first photo is the car in undercoat with black guidecoat. The second photo is when I was half way through the sandback. I actually sanded the whole car back to just the grey/beige undercoat , which took me 3 days in total to get it to where I was happy. It made it alot easier by taking off all the panels and bumpers , because i could work on them on a bench. When I painted , I did the main body all in one go (1 Day) by doing 3 coats of colour , and 4 coats of clear. Then when I moved the car out of the shed the next day , I started doing the panels , bonnet , boot , bumpers , and extra bits , a few at a time... (Took 2 more days). The best thing about the acrylic paint is that you really only need about 5 to 10 minutes of cure between coats , then about an hour before you put on the clear coats... Hope this helps...

Bloody hell mate, that looks amazing.
Give us newcastle members a yell when your heading to the foreshore and we could organise a group cruise meet and greet type event.
