Meguiars is alright but nothing compared to Klasse, Zaino, P21S etc

ATM I'm refinishing an EF tickford xr6 cobalt blue wagon. Klasse AIO and SG will be going on the paint, glass and wheels after many prep steps.

Just did the AIO on the glass after clay, diamondite, glass glow and clay again.
Vanilla moose followed by SG X 3 coats tomorrow night.

No worries man! We need to expose them to some 'real' detailing stuff!

LOL, yeah its a loooong process isnt it! But well worth it IMO ...The end result speaks for itself!

What's all this talk about clay ? - Edit - don't worry - I'm learning about it on eth Eclipse site...interesting

I've never heard of it in a car detailing sense before

Just checking the Eclipse website - would you say an EF GLi dynamic white car would have come with a clear coat? - or just regular paint ?

Not 100% sure about white, it may be single stage but all other colours are PPG 2K paint and clearcoat. Has been since E series.

use some polish on a small section that's not easy to see. Use a colored applicator pad and if the pad turns white then you'll know that its single stage.

bassfreak - are you a member of Autopia.org?

I do get white on the cloth when I polish - so I guess it's not clear coated then.

Well - I've learnt a lot a things I didn't know about just reading through that Eclipse site. Interesting stuff. But what to order?

Any other links, how tos, tuturials etc ?

Pretty sure non-metallic red is not clearcoated either (AU onwards maybe different)

Here's a couple sites for you

Bettercarcare.com - from founder of autopia.org

autobodystore.com

I have a white car.
Looking at all the info and pics of dark cars glossed up I was starting to wonder if I could ever get that kind of finish.

I found this article. I guess I won't ever get a super stunning look no matter what I spend or how much elbow grease I put in.

But that's not going to stop me from trying :)

has anyone had any exeriance with poorboys products?
I'm looking for a good cutting compound as i have REALLY bad watermarks and oxidisation down one side of the car and across the boot.
was thinking about using their SSR1 cutting compound, and then following up with several coats of wolfgang deep gloss sealant.
otherwise can you suggest some other products and somewhere i can order them from as i can't get anything near where i live thats any good (all kitten and polyglaze stuff that i've used before and hated)
was looking at this site:

Have used Poorboys for a couple years now, top of the line stuff.
Meguiars was the benchmark in late 80's and 90's but it ain't anymore

EXP + (amino paint sealant) has just been released as well. Upgrade on EXP which lacked slickness and durability

Plenty of other world class brands around, I'll be getting in half a dozen brands from the USA by the end of the year.

Got my first kit of 3 available now, it's a scratch free wash & dry kit with a sample of ph 7 neutral shampoo that smells like cherry ripe and doesn't s trip wax, ultra microfibre drying towels, wash mitt and glass cloth.

It's a whole new world. The days of acid, ammonia, alkaline, caustic and alcohol based products are gone.
