did a bit of painting/cleaning/polishing in my bay today, what i did was:

re-polished rocker cover/coolant cap/fuel rail

painted the following in gloss black - coolant tank, belt cover, airbox, intake pipework, airbox lid.

all the black plastic stuff was faded, hence the painting. anyhow heres a b4/after pic

AFTER

<a href="http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=3701139" target="_blank"><img src="http://img1.putfile.com/thumb/10/28703525155.jpg" alt="Click to enlarge"></a>

what ya's think??

i need to replace my booster so when i get a newy ill paint that also, and im going to paint the washer bottle too.

Very nice. Was that a lot of work or not much, how long did it take?

not much work at all really, just pulled all the stuff out that i wanted to paint, gave it a really quick rub with some fine sand paper, primed it, put 3 coats of black gloss over it, then a cote of clear. gave the rocker cover a quick polish and just cleaned the dust off the shock toweres etc.

also added some flex corrigated conduit over some wiring.

oh btw all the paint was just spray can stuff from k-mart!

I've always wondered about the issue of painting the overflow tank. Doesn't that just make pinpointing the coolant level... difficult?

Otherwise, I like. I'd like to do my rocker cover one day, but I fear I might stuff it up.

buy a spare rocker cover and work on it, that way if you stuff it up you cant just start again!

oh and when your coolant tank is dirty, you cant see the level anyhow ;) so i painted it.

with the coolant tank, you could always get a thin piece of tape and run it down one side, then spray over... remove the tape and WALAH... a clear bar so you can see where the coolant is sitting ;)

You can buy new coolant resovoirs from Ford for like $25 I think. Then put a strip of tape on him and paint it, and when you peel the tape back you have a small looking hole for seeing the level!

(P.S. I'm n00b to cars, so that may occur to you as stupid, if so, notify me politely :P)

Geez where are you buying coolant bottles from? they are closer to $100 depending on model.

Thinking back it was a guy on FF who's mate cut him a very large discount, so what I said is entirely inaccurate.

Thanks for the heads-up!

hahe, perths a bit far for me, and as i said to kraddy the other day, im usually up for helpin anyone with anything as far as cars go, but i am never, NEVER helpin anyone polish anything, nor am I polishing anything for myself again!.

By far the most boring, tedius and time consuming thing I have ever done!

Next thing i want shiney is going to the electroplaters and being dipped!
