Hello all, first time poster long time reader!
Just wanting some opinions, I have an NL Fairlane and have acquired a DL chrome boot spear (I think they look awesome), just curious for advice in regards to fitment... I'm thinking in regards to drilling holes in the deck lid for the four mounting bolts, i'd make a drilling template out of thick cardboard using the spear as a reference, then mark my holes that way. Anyone have a better or more accurate method? Secondly, the holes that I drill through the deck lid for said bolts, will obviously expose bare metal where I drill through. Do i need to treat the drilled holes or paint them to prevent rust down the track? There is a rubber seal which runs around the spear which seals it to the deck lid, would this be sufficient or will the holes corrode anyway? Cheers for any input guys. |

I have used fish oil on exposed metal when mounting spoilers to early model *mumblecommodorescough* all those years ago, and have not had later issues with rust as a result. You would think it sufficient, but the more you can do to prevent any rust from occurring in the first place the better.
