G'day,
I'm very much a novis and brought myself a cheap used Ford Falcon AU 2000 Series II to replace my 1974 Leyland Marina (6 cyl). I have a few things that need to be fixed. The centre piece holding the front bumper bar to the centre of the car had either broken off or snapped. I have recovered the piece and would like to have it repaired. Does anyone know if it can be repaired or modifies, if so, what stuff will I need? The clear coat is peeling / falling off from the roof, towards the rear windscreen and the upper quarter panels. I would like to get this to look good again. Can anyone tell me what I need to do as in getting this back to good shine. I have returned back to uni so I haven't got much money to spend so cant afford a professional person to do it otherwise I would. My skills at fbreglassing and spraypainting is crap to say the least but I'll give it ago. I live in Eagleby so if anyone can give me some tips or assistance, I'd much appreciate it. Thanks people. |

Ok, I have managed to take a photo or two of my vehicle. I may not be posting in the right section so if any moderator is looking a it could you be kind enough to place this in the correct section. Thanks.
Does anyone know what grade wet or dry sandpaper I need to sand the effected section and whether I need special paint, if so, is there a special name brand. Yeah, I'm going the cheap option as donmt have much money. The car is Ford Colour DG (Dark Green), Where can I get this paint from and do I need any undercoat or do I spay over the existing stuff. How much clear coat will I need. Do I need any wax to buff it up for a shine. Any help on this would be greatful or if your good at this work and dont charge too much, could make arrangements. All my images are 2Mb, I'll have to resize these. Will post pics Tuesday arvo. |

not all AUs mounted the front bar the same, some used a bolt though the front bar others just had a piece of plastic poking into the hole without any thread etc, you might have the wrong series front bar or something, is it actually causing any problems? the plastic mesh stuff either side of the whole should hold it up without any issues...

As the car was out of rego I had to get a roadworthy certificate.
I was told the bumper had to cover the white plastic mesh. What I end up doing was placing a bolt with a washer to fit inside the hole and drill through the end cap and place a large nut over it. It's not ideal but it works to some degree. The bumper is also getting grazed. Is there any specila paint I need to use to get it back to the same colour as pervious? Colour is Dark Green. If so, where would I get it from? E.g. Autobarn or Automotive paint supplier? Thanks, peter |

How much would a respray job cost these days?
I'll have to give it a go myself as I dont have much savings these days since going back to uni fulltime. Can you provide me with extra info as to what I will need to get it done. It will be Acrylic lacquer I think. |

Wow 5 grand, paint must be made of gold.
Car has no dents, only the bootlid needs panel beating, something which I cant do, I have tried it but dont have the knack for it. 2K, is that 2 pack, enamel? I dont like acrylic but trying to keep it cheap. |

Thanks,
I cant find a good bootlid for the wreckers at Wacol , most of the bootlids are either gone or worse than mine. I'm going to do the whole car and stick to the original colour (DG) Congo Green apparently. I got a price from Autobarn on the paint 2K enamel , thicker paint and lasts longer than acrylic . cheaper than acrylic and only 2 litres except when it comes to clear coat then its opposite. |

Yeah thanks, I know there are a few around but was trying to avoid parkridge wreckers as they are pirates when it comes to prices at times but will give them a call.
Thanks on the others. it will give me a place to start searching though. |
