Where does it seem to be spot-welded?

Can you give a better description of where it is spotwelded, or a pic?

i dont know about ea's but xf guards are bolted along the top, 2 underneath and one in the corner near the mirror.. if it is spot welded then basically you have to drill through the spot weld...

Don't drill the spot-welds just yet.

I think you might have missed one bolt. If you open the drivers door and look at the bottom of the guard ("behind" the door, below the lower door hinge), there should be one bolt there. If you did miss it, there is your problem.

If you did get that one, I've got no idea.

It seems strange that they would weld it on an EA and not an EBED/EF/EL. The only front guard I haven't taken off an E-series is an EA.

Have a look along the bottom of the guard for any bolts that may be going up and in the wheel well that face to the back of the car.

Could it be all the years of dirt and leaves are holding it in the rear bottom secton?

If never seen a falcon with spot welded front guards (Escorts and capri's yes ). Must have been in a crash somewhere in its life and the beater doing the job for some reason could have welded the panel. If thats not the case I'am stumped.

for the record, i have taken the front guard off an EA, and no, it wasn't welded anywhere - so its been repaired post-factory...
