Hey There,

The paint on my car is just rooted - chips and cracks everywhere and no matter how often I patch this s.o.b. up I just get more problems developing on other parts of the car. So the time has come for me to give my exterior a make over.

First of all I know this will probably cost anywhere between 4-5k (possibly more) but the thing is I want a GOOD job - no more flaking Argon Silver factory crap. I'm thinking a nice non-metallic job (i've had it with metallic paint) - I just want it done well.

Any suggestions as where to go? (im in Melbourne)

Cheers

Both mine and my folks cars are painted Argon silver and aside from the damage inflicted on it by us and the previous owners it still looks good despite being nearly or over 10 years old (Mines a December '94, there's is a June '95).

Pretty easy to check... each panel comes with a barcode from Ford. If they ALL match then they're original. If they don't, well they're not.!!!

There's a guy in the Western Suburbs, that i was gonna get to spray my car.
He used to work for BMW in their paint department, and had to touch up and remove dents from newish cars.

He got about 6 dents out of my Dads Fairmont Ghia, and you cannot even tell where they were. Unbelievable job.
I've opnly seen one car that he has sprayed and that was a front bar of an EL XR and that looked awesome.

If you are prepared to sand back the car yourself (a lot of work involved) he charges just over 1k. But he supplies really good quality paint, clear coats it after he sands it back after spraying, oven bakes it, and so on.

If you want him to do all the work, its about 4-5k like you were expecting.

But after seeing some of his work, he really seems to be a perfectionist. Which is the type of person you would want working on your own car!

I can find his no. if your interested or might want to give him a call.

I've been wondering about full resprays and changing the colour of cars. do they respray all areas of the car? i.e. engine bay, inside doors, boot, and other areas of the car you frequently see?
how thorough are they and what does it cost to get them to be really thorough?

they'll do it if you want them to.

if you're happy with a green boot interior on your new red car then that's how it will stay.
