Well stock rim width is 6.00J (6") as opposed to XR series which is 7.00J (7").

looking at e series tech oage
says for ef: Wheels and tyres 205/65/R15, 15" wheels 225/50/R16, 16" wheels (EF Tickford 16" Wheel Option) and for EL Wheels and tyres 205/65/R15, 15" wheels 225/50/R16, 16" wheels (EL Tickford 16" Wheel Option) but they dont say xr6 or a anything? (these are 15's too, not 16's)

if you've got 15" tyres, and have XR 15" rims, then yes the tyres will fit - they may not look as 'fat' as they would if you had a wider profile, but they'll still go on ok. 225's look good, but they're not cheap for what they are

go to a tyre shop - they have the tools necessary to do it! plus, you'll need a balance & alignment as well, or else you'll be inviting uneven tyre-wear, and you'll have to replace the tyres sooner than you otherwise would have to. although its extra $$$ its def worth getting done

I'm only looking at an EL Owners manual, and Fraser is correct - the std 205's will fit XR rims, and also F/mont & F/mont Ghia rims (which are 7"). Your load rating drops a bit from the std 94 down to 90 - but this shouldn't be a worry.

Yeah, as suggested by the others, fitting and balancing is mandatory - not that expensive, saves you a lot of effort with tyre levers/jacking, etc. Wheel alignment is only necessary if you've noticed uneven wear on your front - and if you haven't had one in a while. Check out your front suspension for excessive play if you plan to get an alignment, i.e. wheel bearing adjustment, steering gear, ball joints, etc. Don't just wobble the wheels for ball joints, actually use a pinch bar or the tapered end of your wheel brace to check for movement. Not much point getting an alignment done on a substandard suspension. Also ask for a print out of your alignment figures.

{USERNAME} wrote: i had an alignment like No - should be okay, alignments are suspension related more so - the readings are simply taken off the rims. Provided rims aren't badly damaged/warped (which should be noticed during install/balancing).
