I actually think allot of stuff for the EL's are overpriced, especially on ebay.. I nearly won a set of chrome door handles for 22 bucks the other day, but got snipped at the last minute.. they went for 23... most of them go for 100 bucks or thereabouts.. thats nuts for some plastic chrome bits of plastic..

surprised there are not companies making them to cash in on the demand.

Mate they're not chromed plastic, they're chromed steel, they're actually damn nice by comparison, they're nice and solid feeling.
By the way their not el ghia, I believe they're nf ghia, black window switches and paded velour armrest.

So NL Ghia trims are better?

explains why the material matches the Fairlane seats I accidently got the other day..

I had no idea they were actually metal handles.. thats pretty cool, but 100 bucks a pop is still pretty pricy..

I guess theres much to a muchness in it, I prefer to have the leather inserts, and i believe the woodgrain is a shade or 2 darker., but the padded armrests just about make up for it.

and well the windows switches are just a matter of what matches your interior el/nl used grey buttons, ef/nf used black buttons. but there easy enough to switch out if you have an el.

Going by an earlier post then, that means these wood inserts are real rather than the fake plastic ones...

As for the insert, none of the rest of the interior will be leather. .(don't like leather much) so I think the velour inserts are fine.. like the pattern actually.

I scratched the edge of one a tiny bit last night and what came off looked more like varnish than plastic so I started thinking perhaps they were real..

Mate, $50 for those was a bloody good buy!! Im after a set of trims for my Fairmont, but it's pretty hard to get them in cappa where im from :?

The chrome handles are the go too, really added a touh of class to my interior with the other bling items  Picked them up at a real good price i reckon, got the 4 chrome handles, woodgrain shifter surround and leather gear knob with chrome button for $130, so just keep a look out on Ghia/Fairlane or LTD wrecks and you might find you'll get them a lot cheaper than $100 a pop.

EF series 1 Fairmont Ghia was the only F or L model to get real woodgrain on the door trims.

NF Fairlane Ghia series 1 and 2, plus EF2 Fairmont Ghia, had the "orange" plastic woodgrain. NL Fairlane Ghia and EL Fairmont Ghia got a darker plastic woodgrain.

All DF and DL LTDs came with the nice walnut plastic woodgrain (and I think the EL GT did too).
