Has it been done, I noticed the other day when fitting the H1 HID kit to my headlights that the bulb holder looked removable.

I was wondering if someone has tried fitting a H4 bulb holder (that is if it is removable) and checked if the light pattern was correct for high and low.

I would love to fit one of those H4 High/low HID bulbs, the highbeam H3 HIDs are awesome but the delay not being able to quickly flash the lights has me wanting more.

If H4 setup worked I would setup a switch for the H3 HID highbeams, so I could choose when to use them.

There is H4 high/low kits, they move the bulb back and forth to reproduce the way a standard H4 bulb works, it was spoken about in the huge HID thread.

Unless you don't drive out of Sydney, you will still need high beam, well unless you have your head lights adjusted to "BLIND".

Good work, you should start your own thread about what you have done instead of it getting hidden in here.

Are Xenon's the same as what you're trying to do? My EL has Xenon's in the GLI/Futura headlights.

He already has Xenon's on his EL, both high and low beam
I think that he is interested in more light. I am interested in how this pans out, as I want to do the same mod, and have bi-xenons in mine :)

No problems, this will give you an idea what the bulbs are.

File comment: Only EF/EL XR and high range are fitted with this bulb, it contains both low and high beam filament. A filament cover and position of the filament determines where the light reflects to give either high or low beam depending on which filament is used.

The H4 HID bulb is the one that is moving to reproduce where a standard H4 filament would be for either high or low beam.

You can purchase cheaper single filament HID H4 bulbs but then you don't have high beam from that part of the headlight, which gives you base model like headlights.

I can not confirm that swapping the bulb holder from H1 to H4 will even work, the bulb maybe in the wrong position and screw up everything, that is why I want some headlights to test with.
