Hi guys,
I have been working on my show ute for a while now, had alot of wins and now trying to custom make the tray, my plan is to do the following: Have 4 Electric struts in each corner of the tray which run on a remote, once pressed the struts then slowly raise the hard cover up to the height just above the cab, i have been looking for a while now on places that sell electric gas struts and lifting services but im out of luck, if anyone finds anything similar or available please post a reply. Hopefully they make these type of struts, i have seen them on campers and some custom cars so shouldnt be too hard im sure. Would be much appreciated thanks. |

linear actuators are the go, i got 2 for mine that ive been too lazy to do anything with.
plan was replace gas struts with them, then use the bcm boot pop momentary 12v out to trigger. i was thinking need a circuit to take that momentary 12v signal and turn it into a constant that reverses polarity every time you hit the button, so one push once up, one push again down, and not having to hold the boot release button the whole time. dont ask me how i am intending to do that, i got no idea with electronics, gonna handball that too someone else

Yeah my plan is very hard to accomplish but im sure i have seen it done before, 4 actuators on all 4 corners of the ute tray to lift the hard cover up and hold it there until i press the button again, hmm, does anyone have any suggestions of where to get a right sized actuator? i was look on marine and gate actuators as they would do the same job.

There was a Chev Luv ute on Pimp my Ride that they did this to, looked like a good idea. If you do it, I would fit a quick release to one end, so you can remove the hard lid easily when you need to.
Good luck, and put some pics up if you go ahead.
