HID run way hotter I believe and will melt the EF/EL headlights, but hey give it a go.

aren't our headlights reflectors? that'd mean HIDs would be all f**k up and make weird shadowing and patterns and s**t.

HID's run colder actually, as they are only like 35 watts for 6 x the brightness....or so i am to believe

Some good quotes, confirmed from multiple sources, i was wrong, my apologies.
HID's draw less power, put out less heat and are way brighter. I have never heard of anyone melting plastic with true HID. Please note: most customers have a common misconception that the higher the K (Kelvin temperature) the brighter it gets, but infact, it is the opposite. The K rating is inversely proportional to the light output, therefore the lower the K the brighter the light output. Also Xenon runs cooler and than your traditional halogen, therefore it will not melt your housing.

I'm pretty sure that you were only semi wrong... I think if you compare a 55W HID to 55W halogen, HID runs hoter, however as HID is so bright a 35W HID set up is still birhgter than 55W halogen, so since there running at a lower wattage, there drawing less power and putting out less heat (in other words 55watt HID runs hotter than 55 wat halogen, but 35W HID runs colder than either of them...). |

They definantly dont run hot. they are extremely efficient.
Heat is a result of inefficiency.
