You might have folded the support pillar for the door Have a look where the hinges bolt on, compare it to the other side, and if its bent, then that will be your problem. If its the case, you may need professional help?

Hard to tell without knowing what damage has occured. Any chance of some pictures? Someone may have experienced the same problem and may be able to help you!

Is it just clipping the rear edge of the guard ?
If so try opening the door 3/4 so you can get to the edge of the guard then give it a sharp pull outwards. Mine was rubbing slightly when it opened (and made a terrible noise in the process) and this fixed it in 10 seconds. This was done by a panel beater too

Sounds like you have damaged the check strap. Thats the small steel strap between the hinges that stops the door from over extending.

I gave it a pull like u said Hyena and it seems to have helped but it still rubs a bit, but not as bad and without the horrific nosie.

Mate your hinges are bent, best way to fix them is to undo the locating bolts on the hinges unplug all the wiring and check strap and then slide the door up and off the hinges, then all you need to do is get a big shifter and put it over the hinge and bend it towards the rear of the car, know just refit the door and see if it lines up if it doesnt check what has to be done if it is too low at the back bend the bottom hinge back and if it is too high bend the top hinge back.
