I have swapped the 8000K out of mine with the 6000K that a friend had ... no probs. Colour temps have nothing to do with the wattage or cabling ... it's just the internal of the globe.
But it depends on the company you get them from ... each company might have proprietary globes and only fit their own wiring harness. I am waiting for ReGiE to get his set (different brand from mine) and compare the wiring harness ... I think his set has less in it (incorporates the parts in one unit). I just want to see what his globe looks like compared to mine ... and see if the plugs are the same as well. If the globes are the same it wold be cool. I am waiting to hear back about a spare set ... cos I want to get a few spares just incase. I had heard there was a life expectancy of 10-times longer than halogen (although I have seen some halogen globes last a week). Who sells the Narva kits to the public ... I might go and have a look and see if it is the same as my globes (if that's the case I know I can get them easily ... and they are readily available to the public.) OK ... I deleted my last post by accident. I have 6000K globes in now ... they are very white (slight hue of blue ... but not much) The 8000K globes are slightly bluer ... less clarity than the 6000K (I have compared the 2 side by side) 10000K or more is getting very blue/purple ... looks cool ... but with the sacrifice of light clarity and visibility (kinda gets hard to see things on a dark road .. even harder in lit areas.

Also the kit I have ... the lowest colour temp is 6000K from memory.
I have seen a 4200K halogen next to the 6000K HID and it looks very yellow (actually see my comparison pic at the top of the page)

Where did Regie order his from?
I'm going to see which of the sellers on eBay has stock of 6000K H3 kit for my fairmont and order this afternoon

What lights do you have ... you mean the one u had yesterday???
I thought they were all H4s on the outer lights???? I have also been looking at www.xenondepot.com good pics in there and not bad prices either ... they are in the US. The kits look quite good and less bulky than mine. ReGiE got his from Victoria somewhere ... can't remember the brand. He should have them in theh next day or 2.

Well ... you will need to get the low beam ones.
As I mentioned before ... they take a few seconds to warm up ... and after you turn them off ... they have a 2 second delay (not good if you have to dip your beams ... you'll still blind them) The single filament versions like the H1 is cheaper than the H4s .... for obvious reasons (less in the kit) Would love to see them behind projectors on a Ford ... have seen them on an S2000 at work ... and they are nuts.

Yeh, thats fine. I only plan to use them in the Low's
Hopefully wont need to use high beam ever again (besides, the circuit breaker is borked anyway.. so I cant even use high beam atm )

Here's some more information
XENON HID lamps do not have a filament. Instead the light is created by an electrical discharge between two electrodes in an air tight tiny quartz capsule filled with xenon gas, mercury and metal halide salts. This improves durability as road vibrations can cause damage to coil lighting technologies. These light sources also produce a blue-white light that is safer because it is closer to natural daylight. The color temperature is approximately 4200 K compared to 3200 K for halogen. The increased light output from a 35 watt XENON HID lamp is approximately 80% more light then a 55 watt halogen bulb. The XENON HID system will also draw less power from your vehicles electrical system. Color Temperature is a measurement in Degrees Kelvin that indicates the hue of a specific type of light source. Many people believe the misconception that colour temperature is a rating of the brightness of the bulb or HID kit. This belief is completely false. The reality of the matter is that the higher the colour temperature, the less useable light output you will obtain. A perfect example would be a black light. This light has a colour temperature of approx 12,000k and has almost no useable light or lumens output. Higher K kits such as 7000k, 7500k, etc. have been manufactured for individuals that are more concerned about the actual colour output of their lights as opposed to the actual useable light output they produce

If you get them ... I gotta see them behind the XR headlights.

ebay is the best place as hyena said! i'd definately like to see how they'd go in the xr lights! would look bloody awesome!
still gotta sort these lights out, today was my out of action day lol.. i dont think its very hard to put the projectors in your headlights m1 .. ill pm u details where to grab some cheap and get a au headlight and we'll gutter it to try! |

I've just been advised that replacement bulbs are currently available for $155/pair (H1).
The seller noted that the globes are universal, but the plugs may need to be modified to suit the ballast. Cheers

That's what I thought ... but I am getting spares from the place I got my HID kit from so it plugs straight in and I don't have to worry about it

I got my original AU lights ... plus I have my new headlights in the car (same as Shuggs) too ... you reckon I should try with the spare if it gets screwed up?????
