You can always flash anyone you like.
Don't use constant Hi beam (Don't push the lever down).

So I do a lot of Open road driving with hi beam on what has to happen to be able to use say a Bi xenon setup and push the lever forward for hi beam.

It's been mentioned before, but with the extra visibility provided by the HIDs, you probaly won't need your highs anymore.

But from the photos it does not look like it will give the distance that a set of driving lights give. I like to see far in the distance when I drive on the opne road.

All you need to do is to manufacture a NEW cable harness for each headlight.
That will fix the Hi/Lo or flashing problems.
I think I mentioned something about this like 10-15 pages ago on this thread.

I am right in middle of retrofitting a complete AFS(Active Light System) on a Falcon BA. With all the sensors gizmos and gadgets and Dynamic Range Adjustment, Cornering Light System etc. etc.

I have started on a Tech Manual for how to retro THE Standard (not all the gizmos i.e. self levelling, dynamic range adjustment etc.) version of the process and as soon as it is done I may post it on this forum.

Here is few teasers of how it (should) look.
Notice the shroud/bezel?
Notice the LED Parking Lights?
Notice the beautiful colours on top of the cutoff line.
That is how you get colours. Not by buying a higher Kelvin TOY.

Well actually it is more a combination of several things that make the beam spread the way it is.

1-The New Gen. Valeo D1S Bi-Xenon Projectors. These Projectors are used in many of the latest European top of the range vehicles. AUDI, VW etc….The quality and the workmanship is amongst the best in the market. Actually they won the best projector of the year award for 2005/6.
The lens is very different and the reflector bowl is also highly sophisticated. With a special formed Belly Pot that "eats" the Yellow coloured light which is always produced from the under side of a Xenon bulb.
This projector accepts D1S and D2S/D4S bulbs.

2-The bulbs used in this case are D4S. They produce more light (lumen) than D2S. They produce 4800 Kelvin and 3800 Lumen. AND are still under the 6000 Kelvin bracket. After which you enter Dark City.

3-The cutoff shield and the manipulations done to it.

4-Making sure that there are NO stray and unwanted light reflecting either inside the original reflector or is leaking out from any other place in the headlight.

5-The time, effort and attention that went into the adjustment and making sure that the projector in exact correct location in the reflector/headlight housing and is pointing where it should........

Just to mention few of the things that needed to be addressed.

Because of the perfect cutoff line this headlight assy has, you can adjust the beam as high as where a windshield of a vehicle starts, parked 10-15 metre in front of you, without worrying about GLARE or blinding any oncoming traffic. Lo beam of course.
If you look at the beam pattern from the vehicles side, it starts to drop down from the headlight until it hits the ground say in 150-200 metres (Could be more , could be less) depending on how you adjust the headlights. Here is the beauty, all the way tilll it hits the ground, on top of the beam pattern you got this pretty blue-purple section like a thin layer of blue-purple light, which is seen by oncoming traffic.
Every, take off, braking or bump on the road will change the colour and amaze the on lookers.
Whilst you will always have PERFECT white light on the road and on the sides of the road in front of your vehicle.

I have to ask for everyone's sake....How long to tinkner to get the beam pattern, research and development costs and finally how much for a set for an EA!

Man that is fantastic, sure beats the sealed beams on my XT....1968 Ford wagon that is.
