you can but without the ed/ef/el xr headlights it wont be worth it. you need the projector lenses in the light to spread the light.

H1 in GLi, Futura (Low Beam)
H3 in GLi, Futura (High Beam)

iv had an ef and el gli they where both h4 they only changed the shape of the headlight not what globes it takes
from memory the xr projectors dont take h4 at all more like h1 and h3

I stand my ground, your are wrong. :)

EF/EL Fairmonts/Fairlane and LTD had H4. (driving) H3 Spot.

Even when the EL GLi had external shape change they still retained H1 (driving.) in the low end cars.

I Just don't want the bloke buying the wrong hid kit as only the high series take H4.

The issue with HIDs in halogen headlights isn't the light spread being s**t, it's that they spread the light in funny patterns. The focal point of a halogen H1 light (for example) is different to that of an HID H1.

The net result is that it blinds the oncoming traffic and they will crash into you head on and you will burst into flames and die.

Look at any car with genuine HIDs and it will have a perfectly smooth, flat cut off line. That's why. Look at any car with gammon, aftermarket HIDs and it wont, it'll have little bits of light scattered every which-f**k-where.

As for temperature (colour) - day light is around 4300K (from memory, double check that) so if you want maximum usable light, that is where you should be targeting your temperature. The higher temperature, the bluer the light will be. No need to go too high as it will be very blue and not actually very usable. Unless you are doing it to be a show off wanker, in which case go something like 12000K and it will be purple.

And you will crash into a tree because you couldn't see the edge of the road, burst into flames and die.

If you want to do it properly get yourself a set of projectors . However if you have an xr with the projector looking headlights you will be fine otherwise you need a clear lens on your headlight to use them effectively . If you have all those stupid lines that spread light everywhere there is no point you will get the same results as just a globe upgrade .

I have 6000k In my xr. They are awesome. Much better looking than the ugly yellow and light up very good.

As posted the problem being in non xr headlamps is they don't have the projector.

My mate brought a set of aftermarket headlamps off eBay for his vx which had projectors in them. So if u can see if u can find a aftermarket headlamp with a projector in it.
