gday i remember somewhere in the big HID thread there was some people asking what HIDs looked like behind the XR projectors. I took some pics of the beam spread the other night so here u go.
i have 8000K Low beam HIDs and 6000K Low Beam HIDs so the bluer beam is the Low Beam. Low Beam Another Low Beam High Beam and Low Beam

Hmmm, not really a good location for demonstrating the power of HID lights, lol.

Totally (or even more = 150%) agree with you . Not only is it not a good location but also the camera is over exposing. Let's see the beam pattern on a flat, wide and long stretch of road. Then maybe we can start commenting on if it looks to be or not to be.

Freaking hell, mavs is into his HID stuff, very negative feedback.
But i do agree a long stretch of road would be good regie. I'm really considering HID lights for my XR front, seeing as the lights npow arent aimed correctly and suck really bad in wetish weather.

I reckon it was a fine area to show how well they work.
Cause anyone with the ED to AU XR headlights will know that looks 300% brighter than they normnally do... |

I took my car out to the industrial area, and took a couple of shots. This was the last opportunity that I had to take pics of the HID/XR Front combo.
The GLi front goes on tomorrow, hopefully with the HID's

Just a quick question...
Do any of you guys with the HID's, especially with the projectors Lenses, have any problems with people flashing you, cause your lights are too bright, etc? |

No. Although my headlights are aimed lowered than norm (due to having superlows all round, and the resulting 'drag stance'). I've got regular GLi/Futura headlights. The beam isn't as sharply defined as those from proper HID projectors, but it's more well defined than the halogen bulbs before, and they never come up higher than anyones rear bar, or say the concrete dividers on highways.

Do any of you guys with the HID's, especially with the projectors Lenses, have any problems with people flashing you, cause your lights are too bright, etc? After numerous hours spent on testing, calculating, building and rebuilding Halogen reflectors, HID kits in Halogen reflectors, retrofitting projectors in halogen headlights, etc. etc. I can categorically tell you that there is NO CHANCE on earth that anyone installing a HID kit in a Halogen reflector CAN EVER get a PERFECT beam pattern. The closest you can come to an acceptable beam pattern, installing a HID kin in a Halogen Reflector, is if you spend several hours or better said days, fiddling with making a shield in order to harness and redirect any light emitted from a Xenon bulb to the correct areas of a Halogen reflector. Even then you will always have both hot and cold spots and some glare. It would be like trying to run your Ford Falcon on Diesel. On the other hand IF (and that is a BIG IF) you have been able to correctly retrofit a projector in your headlights and managed to block ALL stray light that is emitted from the sides of the reflector (between the lens of the projector and it's reflector and the original reflector) and have been able to properly fit and adjust the projector in right place in your headlight etc. etc. You will have a perfect beam pattern that will NEVER be blinding oncoming traffic. Therefore there is absolutely NO risk for anyone to flash their headlights at you telling you that your headlights are blinding them and that you are about to cause an accident. Sorry, but if anyone can prove me wrong, please send me PROPER pictures of your beam pattern. I am yet to see one.
