Okay guys, a fellow forum member has said I should give it a got myself, so if I get enough info and directions from you guys I probably will.
Now all I got from the wreckers was the light itself and bolts. There is a big plug on the back as you can see in the attached picture. I want to hook it up so that it is activated whenever my low and high beam lights are on. Is it as simple as taping in somewhere and electrical taping that up? Or is there more to it than that? And, what parts will I need to do this? Thanks guys, remember to be very descriptive with directions and parts, I'm newblicious. O, and if there is a document for this procedure, just link it on up there partner. I know there is one for having them as cornering lamps, but I want them on constantly with the low and high beams.

The plug on the back is for a Positive and negative wire, being a light fitting it doesn't really matter which one you use as positive.
You need to Identify which wire lights up your park lights. To do this Turn on the park lights locate the plug on the back of the park light and identify the colours of the wires there. Black will usually be a earth wire for the light, the other colour will most likely be the positive wire for the Park light. You can test this with a multimeter or test light. If you've got the correct wire the test light will turn off with the park lights. Once you have located the correct wire you need to tap into this wire for your relay. I prefer to use solder and heat-shrink for my connections as it is more reliable. The wiring Diagram below should help you with the rest.

That was a great help, but you do need to get into the specifics more, lol. Like which parts exactly I will need and step by step instructions. Oy vey. I don't even know what a relay is man.
Why is the earth connection broken in that diagram? I thought the earth was just connected to the body of the car? That fuse is already there? I know what a solder is, but heat-shrink? Anyway, thanks heaps for what you've done already.

Anyway, thanks heaps for what you've done already. The relay in the diagram is basically a electric switch, when power is connected from 85 to 86 the switch inside will connect 30 to 87+87 We use a relay to give the lamps a better supply of current than you would otherwise get if you wired them direct to the park lights Go into your local repco or Bursons etc and ask for a 30 amp 5 pin relay for fog lamps etc. Heat shrink is a special plastic tubing that shrinks over electrical connections when a heat gun is applied. Far better than electical tape. Available from Repco, Hardware stores, d**k Smiths etc. Get some wire about the same size or better than what is used for the park lamps. You are right an earth is a connection made to the body. The break in the earth on the diagram is a switch. As the cornering lamps are mounted into plastic you need to connect a earth wire from each light to a metal part of the body. Find a suitable location for your relay, mine is near the relay box behind the LHS headlight.

Bump.
I've just been thinking. Everything I've done so far on the car has been a pretty dodge job, so why not this one too. Is there a very dumbed down way to hook it all up? Like tapping in some where, where the low and highs are hooked up? And then electric tape to the rescue.

well, i guess you could hook it upto the battery and put it onto a seperate switch into the cabin if you wanna go really dodgy....

Okay. But I meant a dodgy install where it still comes on with the lamps. I don't wanna have to add to/change the interior.

Yes there is, you could wire each light directly to the park lights, skip the relay and the seperate switch. Problem is you are putting an extra load on the original park light wiring that may or may not be able to take it. You also remove the ability to switch them off independantly. Rather than chop into your dash, Install the switch out of sight. Mine is under the cigarette lighter.

Hmmm, have you heard of guys having trouble with putting too much strain on the park wires? What's the worst that could happen if I overload the wires?

i think the wires are fused...so if there is too much load it will blow the fuse i think...am i right?

Well that wouldn't be such a bad outcome. I thought they had a fuse too, so the fuse would get the brunt of the overload then?

So you either don't have park lights or you put in a bigger fuse and burn out the wiring. If you do it properly with the diagram I gave you you will have no trouble, and if you wanted to change the cornering lights to a brighter fog lamp then the wiring is all set up for it.

It looks a bit much for, that's all. I'd pay you to do it if you had some time, lol. And if you lived in Brisbane. Oy, auto electrician it is.

Its seriously easy. Follow the diagram.
And I would have offered to help you if you were down here.
