Any idea on how to approach this problem? its located on the front and back upper windscreen, similar on the front and back. The pictures look worse then it is due to the angle and how close the pic was taken, but basically its a line of rust parallel with the rubber windscreen seal. what im thinking is taking out the windows and rubber and doing it my self. Is this a sensible idea? it wouldn't be hard if the damn rubber/windscreen wasn't there, all i would need to do is sand, rust kill, mask, prime, spray ideas/ thoughts please |

That seems to be a common problem on E series Fords. Definately remove the windscreen and rear window so you can get to the heart of the rust and fix it properly.

If it's just surface rust and hasn't spread far, get the windscreens out, sand back, rust converter, primer and paint.
Then get new window rubbers - any windscreen place has universal fit stuff much cheaper than genuine rubbers. Generally this rust happens when the rubber shrinks over the years, and starts to let little bits of water through. |

basicaly what those guys have said, but regardless wether it is surface or more i would still take out windows, and also use a good etch primer before applying the primer.

i had rust like that on an EA i owned years ago, and was driving happily along when the wife and kids decided to wind all the windows down, and wooosh out blew the back windscreen. thankfully no-one behind me. my point being tho as everyone has said, remove the window and fix it properly first time lol.
