Hi all... this is my first post on ford mods..... ok down to buisness. I want to learn how to spray using 2k. I dont want the usual advice of 2k vs acrylic and all the crap about stuffups etc. I want to learn how to do it as a bit of a hobby sooooo this is what i need to know
- What is better gravity feed or suction feed guns - What ratio to thin the paint - How long between coats as well as between coulour and clear - Do i bake every coat or just after the final clear - How long do i bake it for - Ideal baking temperature That should get me started for now. There doesnt seem to be much out there on this topic soooo i hope anyone with some in depth knowledge can help me and many others out Thanks[/b] |

ok firtsly when using 2k paints use a gravity feed and a good one at that
when thining the paint it depends on brand you are using so read the label and it should tell you. Say the temp of the both is 25 degress and your doing a respray you can basicly start again after you have gone around the car thats for colour, clear id wait 5 minutes between coats. you only bake after final coat of clear, for 50 minutes at 60 degrees. as for spray preasure it deferes between people but stay at 2 bar and you should be good. if your only stuffing around at moment i would recomend using cheap paint, it aint exactly a cheap hobby. hope i answerd them all good let me know if you need any help. cheers

There are 2k primers available as well.
To get the best advice go to the paint shop where you intend to get the paint from and ask them as they will be able to recommend the best products to suit the brand of paint they sell. The technical data sheets that come with the paint will also answer alot of your questions. |

yeah as bottle jack said the data sheets will have everything on them, with the primers though some are high build ( glasurit ) and others are normal.
