So,
I've bought a 5m SMDLED 5050 from Hong Kong a few days back...
I've got a fair idea on how to wire it all up, but not 100% certain, so I was wondering if someone with electrical knowledge could run me through it all step by step. Maybe make it into a Technical Document or something if it gets enough interest, because I really don't know much when it comes to these sort of things, and I'd rather the myself and learn then just get an auto sparky to look at it and charge me and arm and a leg. I know if it was a doco on here, I'd be stoked.
I know that TimmyA has done it, using his photo as a reference, maybe he knows a bit about it?

Anyway,
cheers guys,
Russ.

How/where does this apply to the boot light/ footwell area?

And the doco has everything to do with courtesy lights. read further down in the doco

Nah man,
I want to use the LED strip as a boot light that lines my top of my boot, and foot well lights that line across the top of my foot wells.
Nothing with the courtesy lights,
maybe splice into them or something... Not sure

Well its still relevant the doco mate.

You have to splice into the courtesy lamps wiring and the LED, determine the neg and pos and connect it up.

Same deal with the boot light. remove globe, splice into the wiring to where it basically comes into the boot and attach the LEDs.

Courtesy wiring, blue/black is neg/ground and green/yellow is positive basically. Should be similar for the boot. Just have to splice into it and connect it.

Is very easy, take your time with it if unsure.

Thanks heaps mate,
no hacking and slashing.
I'll just wait for the strip to come and then read over the doco again.

So define splicing for me?
Because I've been told two different things.
Is it when you just remove the insulation and then wrap the wires around, without cutting the OEM wire,
or is it when you cut into the OEM wire, connect up the LED wires, then connect back up to the OEM stuff.

either oneis correct, your just patching into the existing wiring, not making an entire new loom to run it all.

Thanks Dave,
I'll give it a go when I get the strip.
