most annoying part on a car just about... 2 screw drivers levering them out usualy does the trick... trying to use a phillips head usualy stuffs the head and any slight downward pressure on the phillips head usualy stuffs the plastic thread and fails to unscrew out.. grrr!

They use them to hold in the plastic trim above the headlights in an EF/L.
So everytime you want to change Highbeam bulbs you have to battle the bloody things. I think one of mine is ok. I just rip them out, they still hold once back in. |

Here's an idea for Ford: Build the next Falcon without any scrivets whatsoever, replace them all with screws, clips, whatever. Then advertise it: "The new Ford Falcon, 100% Scrivet-Free." It'd be the fastest selling car in history

{USERNAME} wrote: yea i hate the stupid things, best thing i did with them is pull them out with a hammer... yes sounds a bit over the top, guess a flat head screw driver would work too, got in behind it and ripped the f*ck*r out! put in some screws to replace them much easier :p Same as me I found this was the best way of removing them then you but the bastards back in then they dont hold at all These things should be banned!!!!

{USERNAME} wrote: {USERNAME} wrote: oh i was like WTF is a scrivet.... so i see, so scrivet the offical name to "them f**k ing plastic screw things" I'm with you, i was thinking "scrivet"..whats that? Then i saw the picture and went "oh...those f*&king c*^t motherf%4king plastic bastard sons of b**ch things, that make me want to go postal everytime i see one" Haha the last few comments made my day as i too feel the same emotions when needing to remove these scrivets. Theres some good ideas for next time. I usually use a flat head to get some "outward" pressure them lightly unscrew it with a tiny screw driver, like the ones used to work on computers. And some good ideas to get them out if you have to intensions of re-usings them. {USERNAME} wrote: they are no match for a stanley knife cutting their heads off {USERNAME} wrote: i just drilled them out like you would with a pop rivet. {USERNAME} wrote: no match for an angle grinder though Check my build links below, Regards, Michael.

As I am learning, it is mandatory to hurt/cut/bruise yourself at least once every time you mess around with something new to you in your car.
