Hey fellow ford lovers, i'm a newbie to the forums, and am keen on installing HID's in my car. I'm attempting to do it myself and would love some help/tips from somebody who's actually done it. I'm finding it hard to do, and funnily enough i can't even remove the low-beam bulb itself by consulting the manual. There is a crossbar which goes diagonally from from the radiator to the front quarter panel. This bar leaves little space for my hand to get through to twist and undo the currently installed globe. From what i can see, it seems like the only way to install this HID's is to completely remove the headlights itself, which i really don't want to do, but if its the only way, guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Seriously dont do it . The Fg headlight reflector shape does not respond well to Hids as they have ridges in them that run from the centre vertically up and down the reflector resulting in you lighting up the tops of trees . If you want to use Hids do a proper projector retrofit like you see in the new FG lights but only with a decent shroud . I did a projector retrofit on my AU headlights and will never use standard globes again
If its something you are serious about go to theretrofitsource.com and look at what they have to offer

+2 for projectors.
Easy as pie when you start with a clear lens.

Imagine what I had to go through sanding the inside of my lenses clear!!

Thanks guys! Because mine is a MkII mine already has a projector lens. It's hard to explain, the way the bulb harnesses to the headlight is such that its hard for HID's to be fitted... :S

Hi there mad. Nice work. I want to retrofit projectors to my BA xr6. Just wondering what projectors and the projector shrouds you ordered for the xr6 headlight you have shown in this pic. I know this thread is not active but any reply would be helpful.. thanks :)

That's a "MiniH1" projector and an "Apollo" shroud.
