So got alittle bored tonight and had a look through the shed and found my old Altezzas laying around collecting dust. i also had a spare 20 red LEDs laying around from my last random project and came up with an easy idea.

this little project took me about 30mins to do so far. still not finished yet as i need about 40 ~ 50 LEDs for it to be more effective (as you can see in the photos). but take a look at what ive come up with so far. if this turns out okay i will also try and do the Indicators in LEDs too.

but tell me what you think or if you have any suggestions?

'Day' time pictures - just in the shed lighting.

'night' time pictures - with the shed lights off.

so far i think its turned out okay, when i get more LEDs it will be alot brighter too.

anyways tell me what you think 8-)

Firstly, Nice effort with the LED's. My further comments in no way reflect on your efforts or your workmanship.

1) They are not Altezza Lights and never will be whatever you do to them. They are just poor clear copies of stock tail lights and not even legal ones at that as they have no reflector.

2) They still look s**t. Always have, always will. They have never looked any good on any colour EF or EL and the EB/ED ones are just as bad.

To conclude, Nice Effort, s**t base product.

By the way, have a nice day and I hope my comments didn't offend.

just a thought, but why dont you do the LEDS in a configuration (circles or shapes),instead of loading the tail light with 50 lights. Id love to see then as angel eyes or something similar

i was thinking of doing something similar to this afew days ago but im trying to work out a way to get all the reflectiveness out is there any way to replace theglass with just normal clear lense?would work much better then come up with a design similar to that of the new clubby i reckon there rear light look nice.

im not too sure mate, i wouldnt say im the best at customizing things. but i was always tough 'where there is a will there is a way' i guess the question is how to mod the tail lights to give effective light while still looking nice.

i have some plans in my head where i take the clear lens off and see if i can adapt a 'halo' light in there (using the original EF tail lights) but im not too sure how to get the Lens off? for now ill work with the clear Altezza style and just experiment with it and see if i can come up with something that looks good but when incorporated into the stock EF tail lights will look fairly stock untill the break light is applied.

well ive read on afew guys threads afew months back to put the whole tail light in either the oven or the bath tub (bath tub being full of hot water) and in doing this it will release the glue that is holding the lense off.(well should soften the glue any ways) but i tried it in the oven and bcos the tail light were that hot the plastic started to form to where ever i was putting presure then it started to cool down again and i ended up cracking the whole thing.id probs go the bath tub approach next time

not bad work jason . i made my own up a couple of years ago but i moulded a clear lens then bought some led arrays and the moulded a black shroud for them . here is a pic of my first try and as SWC said once i took the lens off the tail light i had to cover the original reflector with red perspex

I made the clear lens myself with a vacuum former trimmed them to shape and then used sikaflex to fix them to the base
